Christine Wachira is the Africa Regional Associate at Open Ownership (OO), where she leads engagement with African governments, civil society, and regional partners to advance beneficial ownership transparency as a tool for improving governance, accountability, and investment climates. She coordinates multi-stakeholder partnerships, facilitates dialogue, and supports policy and technical reforms that enhance the quality and accessibility of beneficial ownership data.
Her work directly aligns with OO’s mission to ensure that data about who ultimately owns, controls, and benefits from companies is available and usable. Christine supports countries in implementing reforms that establish and maintain beneficial ownership registers, while fostering collaboration among governments, civil society, and the private sector. Through these efforts, she helps maximise the impact of beneficial ownership data in combating corruption, reducing investment risk, and promoting transparency. She also focuses on capacity building, empowering local stakeholders and institutions to effectively manage and use beneficial ownership data.
Christine brings over a decade of experience supporting government-focused programmes, driving reform processes, and promoting evidence-based decision-making. She has worked in Kenya and the United States, bringing a blend of local and international experience to her work. Christine prioritises collaboration, continuous learning, and adapting her approaches to suit local contexts and stakeholder needs—principles that guide her efforts to advance beneficial ownership transparency across Africa.
At the heart of her work, Christine is deeply passionate about seeing African nations thrive. She brings creativity, resilience, and a strong sense of purpose to everything she does—striving for excellence, meaningful and lasting impact in the region.
